For every new car buyer, there is an equal number of people who love their car accessories and audiophiles who like their music on the go. With Apple’s iPod becoming more and more accessible to fit everyone’s budget, most car audio systems, have jacks where you can plug in and listen to your tunes while flying down the M1 (not that we propogate overspeeding). With so many options available, we decided to review quite a few of them. If you’re on a tight budget, you can skimp on other accessories but a fancy stereo system, which we think, is a must-have.
Alpine iDA-X001: The engineers at Alpine know their music lovers. Keeping the iPod ubiquity in mind, this pleasing device was created to provide iPod users the best in-car listening experience. Though not the most hi-tech of all car sound systems available in Britain, the iDA-X001 is simple, doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket, works effectively and has a nice-looking interface.
SIRIUS Satellite Radio: Through good old satellite connectivity, and a monthly subscription fee, you gain access to over 100 channels to better your driving experience. Choose from your favourites, be it sports updates, comedy, news and everything else. The best part, it’s commercial-free.
JVC KD-NX5000: The NX5000 gets a thumbs up from us. With so many functions, 16GB of storage ability, DVD playback options and the mandatory navigation system, JVC’s product fails to disappoint. Be warned, this is not for those on a budget.
Lilliput 518GL-80TV: Numerous features, great aesthetics, sleek and pocket-friendly make the 518 GL-80TV car monitor win our vote. 27 mm thick, 8″ LCD screen, 4 display modes, and the list goes on. You wouldn’t be let down by our pick for our favourite car TV in Britain.
Road Angel Navigator 2000: This brilliant navigator cautions you of ‘safety’ cameras, traffic jams, roadworks while cleverly renewing and refreshing itself in realtime. The 9000 needs only your mobile phone’s GSM/GPRS connectivity to perform. The loveliest bit about this device is that you can personalise it as per your requirements and has some of the loveliest graphics we have seen in these devices.
Garmin Nuvi 660: Why we like this GPS navigation system is because Garmin offers some of the best options. Not the cheapest GPS navigation system available in Britain, but it makes up with its performance and versatility.
Magellan Maestro 4250: Anyone who knows a little about GPS navigation sytems, has certainly heard of Magellan. Think about it, present in the box are adapters for while you’re in Europe or North America both. Take it on a drive, on a walking trip or even across continents. Like its namesake, you will discover more with this gadget.
Chrome Alloy Wheels: If loud graphics and fancy car accessories are not you, buy a new set of alloy wheels, chrome alloy wheels or car rims to upgrade your car’s personality. They are tasteful, definitely attract the opposite sex and ups your posh element without spending a king’s ransom (unless you want the Million dollar ASANTI rims).
Auto Security System: Million dollar car rims or not, a car theft alarm is a good purchase. All it needs is a GSM mobile phone bandwidth through which you can remote control your vehicle. In case your car is robbed, you can discreetly inform the police or trigger the deafening alarm system. Take the BT car security system; it comes with a blackbox and a smartcard that you keep with you. In case someone without the smartcard starts the car, your vehicle will run but you will be alerted.
So many options, such little time. Keep reading our posts for more on the latest car accessories in Britain.
